Welcome to the Great Tey village website, we aim to provide useful community information for villagers and visitors alike.
Great Tey offers a wealth of facilities; the primary school not only provides a high class education but is a social hub for the community. The recreation ground which is located next to the primary school also provides facilities for all ages, tennis, basket ball, football and a children’s play area as well as additional parking facilities for the school.
The Chequers is Great Tey’s local bar and restaurant and provides a friendly community atmosphere to occupants and visitors to Great Tey. Around the corner from The Chequers is St Barnabas church, a Norman church which dates from around 1150AD. Many of the village occupants have been christened, married and buried in this church. The village church plays a key role, both in the local community and primary school.
Great Tey’s village hall plays a large part in community activities and has recently been through a complete renovation. The village hall hosts the majority of the village’s social events with beavers, cubs, scouts, karate, brownies, rainbows, table tennis and the women institute to name a few. It also hosts the post office outreach service on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
